This workshop will focus on issues and problems arising in the treatment of withdrawal from alcohol, benzodiazepines and opioids. There will be particular emphasis on the development of alternatives to the CIWA for tracking in-patient alcohol withdrawal severity, new approaches to medicating complicated alcohol withdrawal and on how to help patients to wean completely and successfully from buprenorphine when appropriate.
